Ederline in Argyll is a working hill farm covering around 13’000 acres of stunning, breathtaking scenery. We have been farming and guardians of the estate in Argyll as a family for over 110 years.
The estate is made up of woodland, far-reaching moors, lochs, with 22 in total all with wild brown trout which you are welcome(as guests staying on the estate) to fish with a fly. A busy network of burns and rocky outcrops which create stunning scenery.
We have traditional black-faced sheep and cross luing cattle. We have large expanses to cover with sheepdogs to bring in the sheep throughout the year for clipping, tupping, lambing and routine medical needs. For the lovers of the hills and a long walk, this process of ’Gathering’ with sheepdogs is a wonderful site to watch and take part in. You are welcome also to come and watch the lambing/calving in April and clipping in July/August.
Ederline has a rich variety of wildlife to be seen with Ospreys nesting on the main loch every spring and a pair of Golden Eagles nesting on the higher ground. We have pike, perch and roach fishing on Loch Ederline. We have Red deer and Roe deer and can take guests out to photograph them during the day or take out at night to view. We have a healthy and happy to say growing population of Red Squirrels which come regularly to the cottage bird tables.
And by prior arrangement, we also have the perfect spot to escape for a picnic up at the Boat House by the Loch.
As a guest on the estate, you are welcome to wander as far as you like and explore this land of outstanding natural beauty.
